Boat trips can be arranged from Girvan Harbour to Ailsa Craig - a dormant volcano which is a famous landmark off the Ayrshire Coast. It is now a source of granite used for Curling Stones and home to over 70,000 seabirds including one of the largest colonies of gannets in the world.

During summer months, a trip round Ailsa Craig sailing from Girvan, on The Waverly - the last sea-going Paddle Steamer, is highly recommended as the views of the Ayrshire Coast are spectacular and the sight of birds perched high on the cliff edges on Ailsa Craig are just amazing.
